Kahlila Robinson, Ph.D.
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Welcome To My Practice
I am a licensed clinical psychologist based in New York City. I completed my doctoral training at The Graduate Center, City University of New York; my post-doctoral training focused on emerging and integrative treatment for children, families, and adults with complex developmental trauma. I have worked with people from birth to late adulthood, and from all walks of life, and have comprehensive training and experience in parent mental health, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, adoption, and relational trauma treatment for adults. I have worked in hospital and clinic settings, as a Mental Health Consultant in preschools, and as Director of Parent Mental Health of a nationally recognized Early Intervention program in the Bronx, NY. In addition to my clinical practice, I provide cognitive assessments to children, and I supervise child and adult psychology graduate students at City College. I am the author of The Self-Regulation Workbook for Children ages 5 - 8, published by Ulysses Press.
Approach & Expertise
My therapeutic home base is AEDP
(Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy)
With a background in psychodynamic psychotherapy (an approach that focuses on our history, relationships, and the depths of our internal world), I integrate complementary approaches to treatment with adults and children (including cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, and DBT). My therapeutic home base for adults is AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy). AEDP is a relational, attachment-based, experiential treatment that integrates affective neuroscience and somatic therapy. With its focus on experiential engagement and processing, I have found AEDP to be a deep and powerful approach to working with a range of issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship conflict. I am an active and engaged therapist, and I am attentive to the impact of culture and ethnicity on development and functioning. It is my honor to work with people of all races, ethnicities, genders, and sexual orientations.
I work with:
Children with behavioral, developmental, social & learning challenges
Kids and families experiencing separation and divorce
Adoptees and their families
Parents seeking guidance on child concerns and family transitions
Adults with difficulties in their mood, functioning, or relationships
Pregnant and post-partum mothers
People struggling with the impact of under-processed trauma
Insurance & Fees
I am an in-network provider with UMR Insurance for Mount Sinai employees. For all other individuals, we establish a mutually agreed-upon fee prior to our initial consultation appointment.
I qualify as an out-of-network provider for most insurance plans that provide such coverage, and I am happy to provide all the necessary information for insurance reimbursements.
